Spike-tacular

Ohh yeahhh... Ben-Amun made two of the anniversary issue covers of Nylon magazine for April! Abbie Cornish is wearing spike earrings and a Half Silver Bangle, and Vanessa Hudgens is wearing our Double Row Silver Spike Necklace.

Just two weeks ago Vanessa was spotted wearing our Ben-Amun Double Row Silver Spike necklace out to dinner for pal Brittany Snow's 25th birthday dinner and last week she wore another Ben-Amun spike necklace to Nylon Magazine's 12th Anniversary Issue Party! Seems like someone loves their Ben-Amun spikes. Check out my favorite spike picks below!

Elizabeth Taylor Tribute

Elizabeth Taylor died yesterday at the age of 79. The actress was a two time Academy Award winner, performed in over 50 movies, and was a pioneer of AIDS awareness. She was glamorous, talented and beautiful. Her life may have been dramatic and her personality eccentric, but she will nonetheless go down as one of the great screen actresses of Hollywood's Golden Age.

As the weather heats up, we are seeing a lot more celebs wearing animal prints! Vanessa Hudgens paired our Ben-Amun Spike Necklace with her adorable leopard print maxi dress on Wednesday. The Beastly actress was spotted wearing it while celebrating pal Brittany Snow's 25th birthday at Boa Steakhouse in LA. Vanessa also sported Ben-Amun's spike bracelet at the Kid's Choice Awards back in 09!

Gisele and Keira Knightley were also photographed recently sporting some animal prints!
I love the idea of pairing a some edgy jewelry to a classic or boho look, like these Ben-Amun for Jonathan Simkhai earrings!

Or, just wear a stack animal print bangles like the one below with a simple white or black t-shirt to get the same look!

Jewels Aren't Just for Grandma

Lately, I've noticed a ton of young celebs and socialites donning glamorous jewels. Sure, it has been awards season, but jewels are a timeless look! I love the idea of a big, bold crystal earring or a delicate crystal bracelet with even the most casual outfit. Check out Natalie Portman  wearing a beautiful brooch in the February issue of InStyle.

I also love this editorial from the November 2010 issue of German Vogue. It makes jewels look so young and edgy!

Prettiest Oscar Jewels

As we say goodbye to February and Fall Fashion Week, we are even sadder to say goodbye to our most favorite time of year – award season! We were honored when our stylist friend Tal Kohen asked to borrow some jewels for her client Stefanie Walmsley, producer of Oscar winner for best live short film "God of Love"! (You might also remember Stephanie as John Denver's adopted daughter in 2000's "Take Me Home: The John Denver Story.") Hear Stephanie speak about the film here and check out her pretty jewel toned Ben-Amun chandeliers… Congratulations Stephanie!

Of course it doesn’t matter only who wins the golden statuette but who wins best dressed! Here were some of our favorites of the night with some affordable Ben-Amun look-a-likes…

Anne Hathaway kept her red gown simple with a thin crystal necklace.

Gwenyth Paltrow dared to be different with a multi color brooch pinned to the side of her sleek Calvin Klein.

Ageless movie star Helen Mirren shined in on-trend metallics.  Ben-Amun’s antique deco pendant necklace is a great way to get her look for less!

Natalie Portman’s tassel earrings reminded us of a new pair made with leather for one of our fall collections! Check out the website soon to purchase and in the meantime these pearl ones have the same silhouette!

Reese Witherspoon complimented her Bardot-esque high pony with earrings similar to our emerald stone ones!  These have definitely been a favorite among Ben-Amun fans and on the red carpet this season as an easy way to add color.

Stay tuned for some more great Oscar pics of our editor friends from Vanity Fair wearing some stunning Ben-Amun pieces at the magazine’s annual star-studded bash!

Here is What We've Been up to!

It may be a while since we last posted, but here at Ben-Amun we have been crazy busy with all sorts of projects! We worked with several designers during NYFW, previewed our brand new collections for fall at Coterie, and we are already starting up some exciting projects! Take a look below for a preview of the wide range of designers that we were lucky to design and produce jewelry for.

Rebecca Taylor has long been known and respected for her feminine pieces that flow effortlessly down the runway. Kate Sebbah, stylist for Rebecca’s show, took an interest in Isaac’s work with Italian resin.  She and Rebecca wanted cuffs painted in a solid deep green jewel tone to give the illusion of depth to the floral patterns in the fall collection.  We think it was a perfect fit!

We were thrilled when Jonathan Simkhai came to us with a need for androgynous pieces that included some new materials Isaac had not previously worked with such as leather and pyrite for his third showing during NYFW. We were excited to combine Jonathan’s sleek downtown hipster looks with Isaac’s over 30 years of experience in the business.  The two worked together along with stylist Susan Joy to create jewelry that spoke to a new demographic for both!
Finland based designer Paola Suhonen of IVANAHelsinki found several pieces from our Portofino Gold collection, to be used as a bold compliment to her fall “Velvet Lake” collection.  As the closing show at Lincoln Center, the IVANAHelsinki collection used soft materials and a print designed by Paola in black, ivory, greens, soft blues and pinks. The jewelry was a standout with the 60s inspired empire waist and A-line cut dresses Paola is known for.

Brian Wood, designer for Silvio Liu’s second collection, used dark tones and heavy fabrics for his cocktail attire. Ben-Amun’s classic Spike and Metal Industria collections in silver were used to give the collections a bit of edge in the styling.
