jewelry and gentlemen

Here at Ben-Amun, we love Daily Candy. Each morning we look forward to checking our routine e-mails and finding one from Daily Candy tossed in the mix. It lightens the mood and makes us all remember the light outside of the office for a few minutes.

Today Daily Candy did a feature on the '5 Best Low-Key Movie Theaters'. As I read the candidates, I remembered a fantastic indie theater I used to frequent in Chicago, The Music Box Theatre. They play films and host bunches of special events. It's historic and romantic and wonderful. The kind of place first loves bloom and proposals happen. As I was thinking of Music Box, I remembered how we were introduced. Regretfully, it was through a not so nice man I dated. In short, he was an idiot. We all have one....er.. ten of those types.

Luckily in the office we all seem to be moving on from the 'not-so-nice-men'. This makes Monday mornings much more pleasant. Together we recall the details of our weekends, many of them involving wonderful men.

Some of these men give beautiful jewelry. This weekend Alissa was given a necklace, and I received a wonderful art deco style bracelet. This made me think of the movies again. Men in the movies have a way of making jewelry the perfect 3rd party in any relationship.

Pretty woman. No one can forget when Richard Gere snapped Julia Roberts hand in the box as she reached for the most beautiful ruby necklace.

Breakfast at Tiffany's made jewelry the second to Audrey and George Peppard third. Visits to Tiffany's haven't been the same since.

10 years earlier, Marilyn sang 'Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend', and no one's ever forgotten. Gentleman Prefer Blondes wouldn't have been possible without all the jewels.

Most recently Titanic made 'The Heart of the Ocean' every teenage girls' dream gift. Audiences around the world cried as Rose dropped the famous necklace into the ocean.

Thinking of the unforgettable jewelry in these films led me to our showroom, where I picked out a few pieces that I thought might make a wonderful third party to any of us (or maybe just a fantastic second).

Necklaces, necklaces, necklaces...
